A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, identified as Faith Ajoke Alayande, has died at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, when Alayande was found dead within the hostel premises.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
According to the police, a note was reportedly discovered by a hostel mate and a relative who had been searching for Alayande before she was found.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the Chief Matron of the hostel at about 6:30 a.m.
Police personnel visited the scene following the report and evacuated the deceased’s remains to a morgue for preservation.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. No conclusion should be drawn beyond the information confirmed by the authorities while the investigation remains ongoing.
