Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he will campaign for the President and vote for him.
Umahi made the statement on Saturday in Okigwe, Imo State, during an inspection of the 65-kilometre Afikpo-Uturu-Okigwe Federal Road project.
The minister said his decision was based on what he described as the developmental projects being carried out by the Tinubu administration across Nigeria.
Umahi also questioned whether choosing Tinubu over Peter Obi could be considered a crime, making clear his position ahead of the next presidential election.
The road project inspected by the minister is being executed through the Federal Government’s tax-credit scheme, with Dangote Industries Limited as the sponsor and Hi-Tech Construction as the contractor.
The Afikpo-Uturu-Okigwe route is one of the federal road projects currently being developed in the region. Its completion is expected to improve transportation along the corridor and strengthen connections between communities served by the highway.
Speaking during the inspection, Umahi maintained that his support for Tinubu was influenced by the administration’s record of infrastructure development.
His declaration places him among political figures who have publicly stated their preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The minister’s comments were made during his official visit to assess progress on the road project in Okigwe.
