The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South-South, Hon. Gift Johnbull, has launched a new public engagement campaign aimed at documenting and bringing greater attention to the experiences of Nigerians who have benefited from programmes and interventions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The initiative, known as “My Renewed Hope Story,” was unveiled in Abuja as a people-focused campaign designed to collect and present real-life accounts of citizens across the South-South region and other parts of the country. The campaign is expected to focus on how federal government interventions are affecting communities, households, businesses and individuals.
According to Johnbull, the project will document stories connected to several areas of government activity, including infrastructure, electricity, agriculture, economic empowerment, education and healthcare. The campaign is intended to move beyond official announcements by highlighting the experiences of people who are directly connected to the various programmes.
Infrastructure is expected to form part of the campaign’s focus, with federal road projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, among the developments that will be documented. The campaign is expected to examine how such projects are influencing transportation, movement of goods, connectivity and economic activities in communities.
The power sector will also feature prominently, particularly initiatives aimed at expanding electricity access and supporting small businesses through solar and other power-related interventions. Johnbull said the campaign would give attention to beneficiaries operating in communities where access to reliable electricity remains important to local economic activity.
Agriculture and food security are another major component of the initiative. The campaign is expected to document experiences involving dry-season farming, fertiliser support and other agricultural programmes intended to increase production and strengthen food supply. Farmers and other participants in related schemes will have an opportunity to share their experiences as part of the documentation exercise.
The economic empowerment component will focus on beneficiaries of federal grants and loan programmes targeting nano, micro and small businesses. The campaign is also expected to feature stories from market women, entrepreneurs, young people and other Nigerians who have participated in government-supported economic initiatives.
Education and healthcare interventions will equally receive attention, including the Nigerian Student Loan Scheme and efforts to upgrade Primary Healthcare Centres. Johnbull said the campaign would seek to capture stories from students, healthcare beneficiaries and other citizens whose experiences can provide evidence of how particular government programmes are working at community level.
The presidential aide called on media organisations, content creators, community leaders and members of the public to participate by sharing verified accounts of government interventions in their respective communities. The campaign will use the hashtag #MyRenewedHopeStory as it expands across the South-South and other parts of Nigeria.
Johnbull’s initiative places citizen experiences at the centre of its communication strategy, providing an avenue for government programmes to be discussed through the voices of beneficiaries. As the campaign progresses, the quality and verification of the stories collected will be important in determining how effectively the initiative reflects the actual experiences of Nigerians across different communities and sectors.
