Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has raised concerns over the circulation of allegedly fake and unsafe products in Nigeria, particularly medicines and baby food.

In a message drawing attention to the issue, the veteran actress appealed to those involved in producing or distributing counterfeit products to stop, warning about the potential consequences for children and other consumers.

“Please stop. Our children are dying,” Ezeonu said while calling out those she accused of putting unsafe products into the market.

Her remarks come amid renewed public concern over counterfeit, falsified and substandard products in Nigeria. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has continued to warn consumers about fake and unregistered medicines and food products and has carried out enforcement operations against violators.

The issue has also generated confusion online, with viral posts recently circulating long lists of products allegedly classified as fake. NAFDAC has clarified that such lists may combine alerts and enforcement actions from different periods and should not automatically be interpreted as a new blanket declaration that every listed product is fake.

Ezeonu’s intervention adds her voice to calls for greater vigilance and stronger action against counterfeit products, particularly those that may affect children and families.

Consumers are advised to verify regulated products through official channels and to report suspected counterfeit or substandard products to the appropriate authorities.
