China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has been awarded the contract to construct a 7-megawatt floating solar power station for the Federal University of Lagos (UNILAG). The project is expected to strengthen the institution’s power supply, reduce reliance on diesel generators, and support long-term sustainability efforts on campus.

The floating solar power station is set to be installed on a water body within the university premises, leveraging advanced solar technology to generate renewable electricity. The project aligns with Nigeria’s broader energy strategy to increase renewable energy capacity and reduce carbon emissions.

UNILAG officials stated that the project is part of ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve service delivery across the institution.
