The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that its officers rejected a ₦100 million bribe and successfully foiled an attempt by a suspected railway vandalism syndicate operating in parts of the country.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the officers involved in the operation demonstrated what authorities described as professional discipline and integrity during the incident, refusing financial inducement offered by the suspects.
The syndicate was allegedly engaged in activities targeting railway infrastructure, a critical national asset used for transportation of passengers and goods across several regions in Nigeria.
Security operatives reportedly intercepted the group during an intelligence-led operation, preventing what officials described as a coordinated attempt to vandalize key railway installations.
The PPRO noted that the refusal of the ₦100 million bribe played a significant role in ensuring the success of the operation, allowing officers to carry out their duties without compromise.
Authorities further stated that several suspects were taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals linked to the criminal network.
