A Nigerian man has shared an account of how an online date allegedly took an unexpected turn after he claimed to have discovered that the woman he met through social media was married.
According to the man, they had communicated online for some time before he suggested that the woman visit his residence. He claimed she declined the invitation and instead proposed that they meet at a restaurant.
He said he agreed to the arrangement and alleged that by the time he arrived at the restaurant, the woman had already begun ordering food and drinks. Despite his surprise, he claimed he proceeded with the outing and eventually spent more than ₦50,000 on the date.
The man further alleged that after the meal, he booked a Bolt ride to his residence, expecting to continue spending time together. However, he claimed the woman then informed him that she was married and would not be engaging in any intimate relationship with him.

The claims have generated mixed reactions across social media, with many users discussing the importance of honesty and transparency in online interactions. Others have noted that the woman’s account of events has not been made public.
At the time of this report, the allegations remain the man’s version of events, and the woman involved has not publicly responded to the claims.
