A yam-laden truck reportedly lost control while attempting a U-turn at Aiyetoro Junction, crashing into a stationary commercial tricycle and leaving three others seriously injured.

One person has died and three others sustained serious injuries following a road crash involving a yam-laden truck and a commercial tricycle at Aiyetoro Junction in Epe, Lagos State.

 

The crash occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2026, after the truck, reportedly travelling from Ijebu-Ode, attempted to make a U-turn towards Eleko.

 

The vehicle reportedly lost control during the manoeuvre before crashing into a stationary commercial tricycle along the Traffic Light corridor.

 

The impact resulted in the death of one person, while three others sustained serious injuries.

 

Emergency responders were reported to have arrived at the scene, with the injured victims subsequently taken to General Hospital, Epe, for medical treatment.

 

The response reportedly involved personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and military personnel.

 

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

 

He also called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and urged relevant authorities to establish the cause of the incident.
