The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) election has generated fresh political reactions following reports that a strong member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) influenced some PDP candidates to step down in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. During a media interaction, Ini Ememobong addressed concerns about whether the PDP should be surprised by its electoral outcome, especially amid claims of internal division. He stated that the party had already taken decisive steps to address such issues.

 

“That is why we took the decision we did in Ibadan. It is now clear who is for the party,” Ememobong said, suggesting that recent actions were aimed at clarifying loyalty and strengthening internal discipline.

 

He further stressed that the PDP remains an opposition party and must not operate as an appendage to any other political structure. According to him, internal compromises that weaken party identity and direction cannot be tolerated.

 

“We cannot allow actions that weaken the party from within. That is why we are taking a hardline position to rebuild and protect the party,” he added.
