A New Jersey man is believed to have killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life inside the family’s home in Montgomery Township, United States.

The victims were identified as David Grodnick, 61, his wife, Lora Grodnick, 62, and their 24-year-old daughter, Sloane Grodnick, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police discovered the three bodies inside the residence on October 2 after authorities had received a request for a welfare check the previous day. Officers initially could not make contact with anyone at the property before returning and gaining entry on Friday evening.

Investigators said Lora and Sloane were found in separate bedrooms, each with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. David was also found dead inside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a firearm was found with him.

Authorities have classified the deaths of Lora and Sloane as homicides and David’s death as a suicide. Investigators believe David was responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter before taking his own life.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing but described the killings as an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the public.

David Grodnick was a senior vice president and underwriting counsel at Land Services USA, a company involved in commercial real estate title insurance. His daughter, Sloane, had attended Princeton University and was pursuing a master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design, according to local reports.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the killings. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths continues.
