Edo State House of Assembly Minority Leader, Hon. Natasha Osawaru, has attracted public attention after introducing herself by her Osawaru surname during a legislative sitting, without mentioning the surname of Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.
In a video shared on her Instagram page and reported by Nigerian media outlets, the lawmaker introduced herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing the Speaker and fellow lawmakers. Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname without Idibia.
Natasha represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and serves as the House’s minority leader. During the sitting, she spoke in support of proposed legislation aimed at strengthening emergency response in Edo State. She raised concerns about challenges including flooding, erosion, fire outbreaks, building collapses and communal crises, arguing that the state needed a stronger legal framework for responding to emergencies.
The latest introduction has drawn comparisons with an April 2025 assembly sitting, when Natasha introduced herself using the name “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, née Idibia.” That earlier introduction attracted attention because of her relationship with the singer, who is widely known by his stage names 2Baba and 2Face.
The renewed interest in her use of the Osawaru surname comes amid public speculation about the couple’s relationship. Recent reports have highlighted their social-media activity and Natasha’s absence from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos. These developments have prompted questions among observers, but they do not independently establish the status of the marriage.
As of publication, the use of the Osawaru surname during the assembly session does not, on its own, confirm that Natasha and 2Baba have separated or divorced. Neither a change in how she introduced herself nor the nameplate shown in the video should be treated as an official announcement ending their marriage. Any conclusion about their relationship would require confirmation from the couple or other reliable evidence.
The immediate development remains Natasha’s decision to identify herself publicly by her Osawaru surname while carrying out her legislative duties. Wapcodehub9ja LIVE News will update this report if either Natasha Osawaru or 2Baba makes a statement clarifying the significance, if any, of the name she used.
